Council Commissioner Appointment- Janet Focht

Dear Scouters,

It is my sincere pleasure to announce the appointment of Janet Focht as Council Commissioner for Saskatchewan Council effective immediately.

Janet started her career in Scouting when her daughters decided they liked the adventure their brother was having in Scouts, and in 1991 she joined as a committee member with the 49th Regina. Over the years Janet has filled roles with the Council, 1st Wilderness Rendezvous camp, as well as a lengthy career in the Scouts Canada retail shop in Regina. Janet has “all the right stuff” to manage Saskatchewan Council, including a life-long love of the Saskatchewan Roughriders!

Janet is a life-long resident of Saskatchewan, having lived in a rural community and now residing in Regina. Janet’s work life in Regina included secretarial and administrational duties for various industries. Her time in the field gave her a passion for blue collar work, especially the trucking sector. She has been, and always will be, Mack truck proud! After the birth of her children, Janet worked tirelessly as a stay at home mom and built a strong PTA and led many student field trips in the city. Her work experience made the transition to the Scout Shop; an easy choice and one she thoroughly enjoyed. Janet has always loved Elvis (recently visited Graceland), late night card games and a Rider win. Janet is looking forward to beginning the next chapter of her life, being retired. Included on Janet’s bucket list is a desire to do some travelling (particularly to England), spending more time with her family, and to enjoy leisure time involving good books and quality curling on TV. Janet is very excited to continue to help develop well rounded youth in Saskatchewan and to help our membership grow in the province.

Janet can be reached at jfocht@scouts.ca

I would very much like to thank Paul Langlois for his support as Council Commissioner, having completed his term on Aug. 30, 2019.

Please join me in welcoming Janet to his new role, working as part of the Council Key 3 to deliver fun, safe Scouting adventures to our members and helping Scouts Canada achieve its 5 priorities.

Yours in Scouting,

Tim Welch
