Klondike hike is a winter challenge that involves scouts and ventures and now girl guides with 5-7 youth per team.
 
It involves scouting skills in a series of checkpoints spread over five kilometres.
 
Each checkpoint test a different winter skill:
 
  • Ice rescue
  • Knots and lashing
  • Shelter building
  • First aid
  • Fire lighting
  • Gorge crossing
  • Alaskan climb
  • Canoeing preparedness
 
 
 
Points are awarded at each checkpoint according to the degree of skill demonstrated by the team. Prizes will be awarded for the top three teams and for best sleigh design.
 
 
 
The event will be held on January 12/2019
 
Where: Dallas Valley, SK. 
 
When: Registration at 8:30 event starting at 9 ending around 5
Cost: $25 for the day includes badge, hot dog, drink and cake
